About this collection

Originating in Northern Italy and likely utilized in a Benedictine monastery, this gradual was acquired by the Trivulzio family of Milan. It was eventually inherited by the marquees Maria Trotti during the 19th century and later, along with many other Trivulzio literary treasures, was bought by Milanese editor Ulrico Hoepli. In the 1880s, Hoepli sold these items from the Trivulzio library through an auction house owned by George A. Leavitt in New York. Byron Reed purchased the gradual at the auction held on November 27th, 1886, bringing the manuscript home to the Midwest.

The digitization of this gradual was made possible through the resources of the Dr. C.C. and Mabel L. Criss Library at the University of Nebraska Omaha.
