About this collection

Date range 1944-2000

Robert Paskach (1927-2001) snapped photos for the Omaha World-Herald from 1948 to 1993.  His extraordinary collection of uplifting moments, heartbreaking scenes, and everything between shows the flexibility a newspaper photographer needed.  In 1946, Paskach began working as a copy boy for the newspaper and became increasingly interested in the photography department.  The staff recognized his desire to learn and slowly taught him the craft.  They hired him as a full-time photographer in 1948.  He earned a promotion to chief photographer, the head of the Omaha World-Herald’s photography department, in 1975. Paskach continued taking photos for the paper until his retirement in 1993.
