              Articles on Gene Eppley's personal aviation history.  Eppley started flying in 1911 after purchasing the first plane to make a coast-to-coast flight and did some barnstorming in Ohio.  The hotel magnate continued to fly into the 1930s for business and pleasure.  In the 1950s, Eppley donated the funds to extend Omaha's Municipal Airport's runways to accommodate commercial jets.  As a result, the airport was renamed Eppley Airfield.
